REI does it again. // Bold moves flow intuitively & bountifully to companies inspired by their purpose.

By shutting down operations (online and off) and paying all 13,000 employees to get outside on Black Friday, REI defied retail industry norms to create a celebration of the outdoors, family and community. Their now iconic #OptOutside campaign has reset the landscape for what once was America’s biggest retail day of the year.

As if that wasn’t already impressive enough, REI are now heading fast toward zero waste. No U.S. retailer has achieved zero waste. REI plans to do it by 2021.

With a sense of urgency, REI is further cleaning up operations, working across the industry to reduce packaging and sharing what they know with other retailers.
