When faced with hate, celebrate who you are

The Graham Cracker company Honey Maid got plenty of reactions to their “This is Wholesome” ad campaign about what it means to be a family. When the campaign ran a spot that featured two gay dads with their son, the hate mail came in. Rather than backtrack or make excuses for their ad, Honey Maid took it all a step further – and higher. They hired two artists to carefully roll each piece of hate mail and arrange the rolled papers into the word “love.” And then for good measure, they used all of the positive mail they received as a backdrop. According to the company, and as you can glean from the image below, the love:hate ratio was 10:1.
